Non-US citizens must have a cosigner that is either a US citizen or permanent resident. To be eligible, this cosigner must have lived in the US for the past two years with good credit. While US citizens are not required to apply with a cosigner, the addition of a cosigner can increase the likelihood of approval and can lower your interest rate.
